Antonia Laura Thomas currently stars on season 4 of The Good Doctor, opposite Freddie Highmore. Written by David Shore, based on a South Korean format, the series centers on a young surgeon with Savant syndrome who is recruited into the pediatric surgical unit of a prestigious hospital. The Good Doctor is ABC’s most-watched freshman series in 13 years, averaging 15.4 million viewers during its first season.

Antonia plays Evie in the Netflix series Lovesick, which was previously titled Scrotal Recall when it aired on Channel 4 in the UK. Running for three seasons, the series focused on playboy Dylan (Johnny Flynn) as he relives past encounters to notify all his former partners that he has chlamydia. Thomas reunited with Flynn in a one-off episode of The Nightmare Worlds of HG Wells.

Perhaps best known for her role as Alisha Bailey in the cult sci-fi drama Misfits, Antonia has also appeared in a multitude of notable television series, including the BBC drama The Musketeers, in addition to their popular series Fleming, opposite Dominic Cooper; ITV’s mini-series Homefront; BBC’s mini-series The Deep, opposite James Nesbitt and Minnie Driver. Her most recent TV role – aside from her ongoing commitment to The Good Doctor – was an episode of Small Axe opposite John Boyega.

Ms Thomas, who was born in London on November 3rd, 1986, also lent her voice to the reboot of the original 1997 hit children’s series Teletubbies and featured in Coldplay’s music video for their track Charlie Brown and the music video to C’est La Vie by Stereophonics. She has featured in several other short films.

On the big screen, Antonia first made her mark with a leading riveting performance in Dexter Fletcher’s musical, Sunshine on Leith, which she received a 2014 Empire Awards nomination for Best Female Newcomer. That same year, she appeared in Billy O’Brien’s sci-fi, The Hybrid, and Elaine Constantine’s musical drama, Northern Soul. This was followed by a plethora of buzzworthy independent films, including James McTeigue’s crime thriller, Survivor, opposite Milla Jovovich, Pierce Brosnan and Angela Bassett; Nirpal Bhogal’s Netflix horror, Firstborn; and Avril E. Russell’s thriller, Rearview.

The daughter of a Jamaican mother, Veronica (a psychologist), and British father David (a classical singer), Antonia has two older sisters; Emma Jay Thomas is also an actress while Chloe Lucy Thomas is a journalist. In 2021, Antonia became an ambassador for the charity Power The Fight which Empowers Communities To End Youth Violence, particularly supporting families and young people impacted by knife and gang crime.

The actress received a BA in acting from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2009 and then joined the National Youth Theatre. She has been described by ABC as “a natural talent with a striking presence”. The network, which is the home of The Good Doctor in the USA, also says she is “quickly establishing herself as one of Hollywood’s most promising young talents”.
